Get Alerts on Your iPhone or iPad

Ping Page alerts arrive like a text message, with no app to download. Pick your device below for the steps.

01 Add the Ping Page to your Home Screen

iPhone and iPad only allow web alerts from pages added to the Home Screen.

Safari

  1. Open the Ping Page in Safari.
  2. Tap the menu icon (☰) next to the address bar.
  3. Tap Share.
  4. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen. If you see Open as Web App, leave it on.
  5. Tap Add.

Chrome

  1. Open the Ping Page in Chrome.
  2. Tap the Share icon next to the address bar.
  3. Tap View More.
  4. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen, then Add.

02 Turn on alerts

  1. Open the channel from its new icon on your Home Screen.
  2. Tap Subscribe to Alerts, then tap Allow.

03 Show alerts on your lock screen

  1. Open the Settings app and tap Notifications.
  2. Scroll down and tap the channel’s name.
  3. Make sure Allow Notifications is on and Lock Screen is checked.
  4. Optional: set Banner Style to Persistent so alerts stay until you swipe them away.

04 Turn on location for Next In Line and Order Pickup

Lines and order numbers only let people nearby join, so Safari needs your location. This matters most when you join from Safari instead of the Home Screen icon.

  1. Open the Settings app and tap Privacy & Security.
  2. Tap Location Services and make sure it’s on.
  3. Tap Safari Websites, choose While Using the App, and turn on Precise Location.
  4. Back in Settings, tap Apps, then Safari, then Location, and choose Ask or Allow.
  5. Go back to the Ping Page and reload it.

Not getting alerts?

I tapped Don't Allow

Open Settings, tap Apps, then the channel’s name, then Notifications, and turn on Allow Notifications.

I opened the Ping Page in Safari, not from the Home Screen icon

On iPhone and iPad, push notifications only work from the Home Screen icon. Open the icon and tap Subscribe to Alerts there.

A Focus is on (Do Not Disturb, Sleep, Work)

Swipe down from the top right corner and turn the Focus off, or add the channel to that Focus’s allowed apps.

I don't see Add to Home Screen, or alerts never arrive

Web alerts need iOS 16.4 or later. Check Settings, then General, then Software Update.
